This morning it was 59 F outside and we put on our jackets for the first time in 6 months. Living in Laredo through the Spring and Summer can be tough with the crazy heat index. There can be more than a little to complain about. But, the one thing I have found (in our experience here) is that the one thing to praise about Laredo is a general willingness to help one another out.
As a member of The Newcomers And Friends of Laredo organization, I have seen how people, even strangers, rally to help someone in need. In addition to their efforts to contribute needed items to charities in the community, there is always a quick and ready line of families ready to bring meals to people who are suffering through a challenging time: a new baby, a death in the family, a hospitalization. Whether you are a native or brand new, it’s wonderful to see.
This week, I was on the meal roster for a member who endured a lengthy hospital stay. I had fixed a simple meal of beef fried rice and planned to also include a small amount of spicy red bean paste (Korean Go-Chu-Jang). One thing I’ve learned from our meal deliveries is that it’s much easier to take dinner in something you don’t expect back. (Then, the recipient doesn’t need to worry about cleaning and returning your item.)
These Glad containers were perfect. I’d never seen this novel design before! The small sauce cup fits securely into the lid! There is less potential waste (since I know many people still throw away plastics like this, even though they are recyclable), and the package is compact and highly mobile!
The small container snaps right in!
I thought that was so cool and convenient!
These containers really are smartly designed. Even my husband, when I showed them how they worked, agreed that they were a pretty cool concept.
Have you seen any other cool meal storage contraptions out there?
