Welcome to Critters And Crayons!
The Critters and Crayons Blog http://crittersandcrayons.com is about humor in parenting, crafting, education, play, family activities and other intriguing and odd things that bring happiness and laughter. It aims to find the funny in the every day- and, in particular, the most humorless of parenting situations. It’s also a place for parents to find resources and first-person reviews of activities around Laredo, Texas for children and families. The blog launched in April 2011 and became part of Critters And Crayons, LLC in May 2013!
Critters And Crayons, LLC Offers Small Businesses Collaborative & Promotional Event Planning & Social Media Networking Services.

Hey! I’m Tricia, a former Army Officer and research analyst turned freelance writer-blogger here at Critters And Crayons and Founder/Owner of Critters And Crayons, LLC.
I married a guy I met rappelling out of helicopters in the Army and we’ve produced a couple of innovatively comical and crazy-awesome kids who reliably provide fresh, un-amplified blog material. Thank Bloggy Goodness.
I took a break from the salaried grind to serve as a Professional Mom and freelance writer and now enjoy finding ways we can have fun and bond as a family wherever we might be while trying to create some resources for Laredo parents. (Check out the Laredo Community Round-Up to see what’s happening around our border town HERE.)
Above all, I seek to remember that there is wonder and laughter in this parenting adventure and in the world around us, if we can just stop the bustle long enough to see it With, For, And Because Of Our Kids.
Thanks for stopping by!
Critters and Crayons got its start as a monthly column for Laredo Family Time Magazine which led to authorship of the Laredo Family Events Guide, a publication packaged and published by Laredo Family Time Magazine.

You have an amazing website and I want to thank you for giving something special to all mothers around Laredo. I especially love your updated calendar of events, and the research you spent doing on the parks and local events; it makes living in Laredo exciting, especially for my girls. We usually say “there is nothing to do in Laredo!” but I realized that phrase is definitely false; I found myself doing so much more because of your website, and for that I thank you.
Wow! Erika, your comment may have made my year! I am so pleased that you find it helpful. We won’t be in Laredo forever, but my goal was to highlight what we could while we are here. I really wished there was a resource for families when we arrived her a year and a half ago. Your words are so kind and they give me fuel to keep working on highlighting the good things about family life here. Thanks you so much!
Thanks, Trish, for your presence and reporting of the book festival at the library in Laredo! I hope when I come back I can get some time with the home-school association there! Tell your friends about me! I’m on Facebook!
No problem, Ricky! Great to meet you! Great entertainment and love your book!
oy .
I think you should change your theme to Brand New Day.
It suits crittersandcrayons perfectly unlike the Morning Herald (2011) theme you have right now .It’s just right for the blog .(autumlight or winterlight ).
I am sure you will like(love) it .

Cheers !!
Skilled- when I have some time, I will try it out! I’ve tried on new themes, but they seem to take some tweaking…..But, I love the suggestion and it does look nice and clean. Thank you!
What an interesting life you have. You had me with the cake pops, but I look forward to reading more.
What a nice thing to say! Thank you so much for visiting my little blog, Stasha.
I followed the crumbs from Valentine4 (Desi) an am glad I did.
I’m glad you did, too! I’ve been checking yours as well! We should both thank Desi!
Thanks!
Oh I plan on it thanking her as am sure you are. There have been a few that I need to bow in front of an pay homage -so a big thanky post will be in the future. Random acts of kindness and generosity should not go unnoticed. I was taken back, for thirty seconds I actually thought there was another site out there with the same name. Regardless am looking forward to reading along with critters and crayons.
