If you don’t want to go to school you are like thousands and thousands of other children. You are not different or unusual, it’s natural. Maybe you find the lessons too easy or too difficult, maybe they’re just plain boring. Perhaps you don’t get along with your classmates, you might be in bother from the teachers or you might be getting grief from a bully. What on earth can you do? Here’s a bit of advice.

Write down all the things you don’t like about school on one side of a piece of paper. Write anything you do like about school on the other side. On the side with the ‘don’t likes’ make up some things that will make things better. Here is an example from my children: You might not be able to solve all the problems, but you can make a jolly good start.

Speak to a grown-up about your troubles. They will give you reassurance and try to solve any problems that you can’t handle yourself.

Keep a diary and write down all your troubles, it’s a great way to let all your feelings and emotions out. The most important thing to remember is you do not have to suffer in silence. Everyone who loves you will help you.
